looking for free online class or someone to help me learn how to bid on a drywall job. Sq. Ft. and sheets needed for jobs. Open to other contractors or sub contractors help if willing. I have all the tools and know how for the trade, just need help with learning how to place a bid for a job and not low ball my self to bad lol.
What kind of class would I take to learn to Bid drywall jobs?
You just need to measure dimensions of rooms and calculate the number of sheets of drywall to do those rooms and cost per sheet plus a profit margin and your labor rate per room or hour and any incidentals like screws, drywall lift-jack rental for the ceiling, etc... If you do the taping and mudding, a general rule of thumb is to figure it as half the total cost of drywalling...check with other people in the trade in your location.
Say you have a 10 X 12 foot room with 8 foot ceilings....you can fit two sheets of drywall horizontally so all you need to figure is the length around the room...10+ 10+12+12 =44 linear feet X 2 sections equals 88 total feet of drywall or 11 sections of 4 X 8 drywall. Same thing for the ceiling... 10 X12 ceiling = 3----4 X 12 or 3---4 X10 sheets or 4---4 X 8 sheets of 5/8. You may subtract a sheet or two for closets, windows, doors, etc if possible but always calculate the usage without leaving a seam or joint at a window or door edge for strength. You may also want to figure for a truck rental if you don't have one and any costs to remove scraps. The more you do, the better you get at estimating.

Reply:Class?
Simple math is all you need.
Sq ft x price per sq ft at wholesale
Cost of mud for sq ft
Cost of screws for sq ft
Your labor rate per hour x hours to hang and cut
Miscellaneous supplies (Tape, Razorblades, banjo... etc)
This establishes your base point... now find out what other contractors in your area are charging per sq ft and bid from there.
Reply:I would recommend some kind of construction engineer managment type class. There is a wide variet out there available online such as Pheonix University that could teach you what it is you need to know.
