I have a college education and work history, but recently had a substance abuse problem, and now have a criminal history. Is there anyone who has been in this situation, and have any suggestions to so this doesn't stop me from getting jobs in the future?
What jobs can I still get as a convicted felon for a drug possession?
well bro...you can still probably get a lot of jobs...but you have to put on the application that you have a conviction and they usually have a space to put "what circumstances" and you can pure it all out on there...
then they will decide if they are desperate enough to have an ex addict work with them....or weather your other qualifications still put you at the top of the list...
but its going to be a real hard time for you...my best bet would be for awhile to work a job where you dont fill out an application like ods and ends in the construction business...or get a job through a relative.

Reply:Your present situation will create limitations that never existed before your criminal record.
However, all is not lost.
There may be good job opportunities available to you depending on where you live and what type of job you're looking for.
Without the details of where you live (i.e. state or province) and what type of job you're looking for it's difficult to provide a fair and reasonable answer.
Good Luck.
Reply:That's great that you are straightened out and trying to find work. I would suggest looking for jobs where you know a background check will not happen. The problem is that those jobs are most often poor paying jobs.
When applying for jobs I would suggest being honest and upfront right off the bat... really selll that you are trying to better yourself. Good luck!
Reply:You need to look for small businesses where the boss is in charge of hiring. Be honest and sincere in asking for a chance. Most large companies with personnel directors or HR departments simply have a policy against hiring convicted felons period.
Reply:You can sell junk on Ebay...
or become a better novelist than Stephen King.
Generally, you can do entrepreneurial things. Be your own boss.
