If I major in philosophy what kind of jobs would I get?

What kind of jobs do are there for people who major in philosophy?
Generally speaking, philosophy majors could go into ANY field they want, for philosophy has simply taught them how to think and how to think logically - a necessary trait in any industry or profession.





As a generalization, it really doesn't matter what your undergraduate degree was in, you can usually enter any field. It's your graduate degree that is what matters for your future line of work. I say pick a BA that you enjoy. I saw too many business majors struggling through economics because they thought that was what was expected of them.





That said, philosophy majors are probably prevalent in the teaching field, as well as the legal profession.

Reply:I agree with the best answer. Philosophy is an excellent base for any field you wish to pursue. I did philosophy as part of my BA and then went and did a Masters in Business without any problems.

Reply:You could be a member of a think tank. A group of thinkers that solve societal problems. You need to get involved into politics then. And focus on social issues in your study.

If you're good at it, you could be writer, I suppose.





Hint: don't major in philosophy to get rich.
