You could be a food scientist. It's serious work. Every product you can buy in a grocery store is analyzed by a food scientist before it can be sold (at least for anything that is preserved, organic food might be off this list, but then again that's usually safe). They determine Ph levels, and how much preservative needs to be added to allow the products a decent and safe shelf life.
