What kind of jobs would I be looking at with these majors in college?

-Sociology

-Anthropology

-Dietitics

-Social Work

-Psychology

-Literature

-English

-Business

I would also like to minor in Spanish.

I was just wondering what types of jobs I would be looking at if I minored in Spanish and majored in any of the above.

Thanks!

What kind of jobs would I be looking at with these majors in college?
All of those are going to require a graduate degree for you to work in the field. Make sure you know that beforehand.
Reply:While most of these degrees would require a graduate degree to work in the field, most undergraduates in these degree programs are not actually interested in working in these fields. Undergraduate degrees give you an education rather than career preparation with the exception of obvious practical subjects such as nursing.

Career paths that open up range and are entirely dependent on the individual rather than the individuals specific education.

If you want career preparation, consider apprenticeship and post-secondary diploma programs.

If I went ahead and got my masters, what jobs could i get and what would the pay be for that career?

What kind of jobs can I get with a bachelors in phychology?
bartender
Reply:human resources for a company or anything dealing with people. generally, any job dealing with people could be a good fit. sales. you will probably be dealing with entry level positions and the pay scale is different for different companies. some hospitals like md anderson or texas childrens have a program for children and the position is simply playing with them. if you got your masters you might hang your shingle as a therapist. it would definitely open more doors for a specialized field.
Reply:With a bachelor's in psychology, you're still pretty much limited to the entry-level jobs in human services...think in the $20,000-$40,000/year range. You can actually go several different directions with the Masters: a MA in Pyschology, of course, or Social Work, or my personal favorite, Rehabilitation Counseling. Figure that the Masters will let you add $10,000-$30,000 per year more as your career develops.

More importantly, it lets you do some of the more interesting work and puts you in the hunt for leadership/management positions, if that's your thing. And those pay better still.

What kinds of jobs and what are the processes do you have to go to as a 15 year old?

Pretty good and easy "best answer" if you're familiar with jobs.

yeah, I'm only 15 and I'm looking for a job. I don't know how to get a work permit, a bank account or any of that stuff.

Like, step by step.

Someone guide me on how to : -%26gt; get a work permit -%26gt; bank account.

a bonus would be if you could give me a list of jobs 15 year olds are applicapable of.

I live in the bay area (San Jose) It'd be helpful if someone can give me tips on what jobs to get as well.

No, you may not get my street address, for those pedos out there.

Thanks!

What kinds of jobs and what are the processes do you have to go to as a 15 year old?
Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities.

3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

5. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow delivery of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any receipt of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each package handled by you.

7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate with the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a very long period of time to activate a waiting list, you want to offer the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any lengthy period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can call the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The call back fee is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head basis. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your fee schedule near the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will value your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- often beyond the range of any inhouse paging system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not take advantage of the connectivity to make the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison.

8. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!
Reply:well im also only 15 and looking for a job.

when i first decided i wanted to get a job i asked my parents if they could help me set up a bank account. i got that done. you just go to the bank and ask if you can get a bank account.

you also have to decide what kind of job you want to start with. in my oppinion the best ones to start off with aqre either retail jobs like working in stores, or working in the food services. this is where people usually higher teens.

then, once you found a place that you want to work at get an application form, fill it out(you may also want to write a resume) and bring it in. if they consider you they will cll you back for an interview. dont get offended if they say NO and dont higher you

i dont know what else to add, but heres a good site to find a job

What kind of jobs can i get with a degree in psychology or sociology?

I am a junior in college and am an Elementary Education major. I don't know if I can pass the test to be certified to teach. I might have to change my major, and I was thinking of either Psychology or Sociology. What kinds of jobs are typically offered with those BA degrees?

What kind of jobs can i get with a degree in psychology or sociology?
With a BA degree in psych you can get jobs like direct care with inpatients or outpatients, working as an educational assistant in a school setting with emotionally disturbed and/or mentally handicapped individuals, or everyday office jobs. I had several of my colleagues go into human resource jobs and assistant-type jobs in a mental health setting. Unless you get a Masters or Ph.D, though, the pay is really not very high...at all, but sometimes if you go the right route or get an advanced degree it can really help you move along to a good career in the field. Good luck!
Reply:Well, you can consider working in personnel department, testing centers as a psychometrician, mental hospitals if you decide to major in clinical psychology. Recruitment agencies also need a lot of psychology graduates.

There's a lot to choose from actually. Don't worry, you'll find jobs in that field.

What kind of jobs can a person get with a degree in sports psycology?

I have been looking into different majors, and sports psycology sounds really interesting but I don't know what type of jobs a person could do with this major? or are there 'sports psycologists' and where would a person find one?

What kind of jobs can a person get with a degree in sports psycology?
You would do many things to generate an income! You would want to write books and be published so that people would pay for your book when they thought they needed sports psychotherapy! You would want to either tour and get paid to give lecture seminars to atheletes and coaches! Without a book that would be hard to do! You would look for jobs as a counsilor assisting kids who had olympic goals or adults who had olympic goals! You would try to get hooked up with the school board somehow so atheletes with ambitions of becoming college atheletes or pro atheletes would seek your advice and pay you for it! You would want to have an office where you did one one on therapy sessions with paying clients! You may try to get a job in the major or minor league team of any sport as their psychotherapist! you would start a websight and for a monthly fee people would have access to your info and sujjestions! Being a psychotherapist who makes a lot of money takes ingenuity on how to chrage people for your services! Sprts psychology is just another genra of psychotherapy! Hey you could even pitch espn on a program where you treat celeb athaletes on t.v. sorta like dr. phil! or you could just open an office and place an add and hope a bunch of guys who wanna improve their golf game call you! sports is 90% mental and 10% physical...Well at least that's what you are going to have to convince all your clients of!

What types of international careers are available to sociology graduates?

What kind of jobs can someone get with a degree in sociology?
When I went to college I wanted to be a probation officer, but when I got out of school I started out being a preschool teacher and now I am a legal advocate for a domestic violence shelter. There are many options. You should do whatever interests you, whatever you think you would like to do. No job is worth any amount of money if you don't enjoy the work.
Reply:Positives - You can do almost anything.

Negatives - You cannot do go into the "big professions"; Law, Medicine, etc...

I have been a teacher, bartender, school administrator, professional photogrpher, conflict resolution/mediation trainer, and university administrator and yes I have a BA in Sociology. So much for saving the world!

What kind of jobs can you get if you studied Food technology?
You could be a food scientist. It's serious work. Every product you can buy in a grocery store is analyzed by a food scientist before it can be sold (at least for anything that is preserved, organic food might be off this list, but then again that's usually safe). They determine Ph levels, and how much preservative needs to be added to allow the products a decent and safe shelf life.

What is the best way to look for jobs out of state that aren't being handled by a recruiter?

The economy in Michigan is in the crapper, so I need to look for a job out of state. The jobs in the areas I am looking for on monster and careerbuilder, etc. are almost all through a recruiter, but my degree and my experience are in two completely different fields. I feel like my resumes keep getting dumped because I don't have the right degree or my experience is exactly what they are looking for. I can't even do follow-up calling to check on why. I need to find jobs that are directly listed. Please help!

What is the best way to look for jobs out of state that aren't being handled by a recruiter?
Do some research in the areas you are looking to relocate to. Find out the name of the local newspaper. Most newspapers have websites with local job listings. Also see what large companies are located in the areas you are interested in and find the company's website and send your resume directly to them.
Reply:I don't know what your background is, but sometimes the company's website itself will let you post your resume there. Then when they have an opening, they have a ready pool to draw from. I can't say they all use their applicant pool effectively, but one in my area does (I got called twice to interview for 2 different jobs). Plus they post their openings on their websites as well. There's no better way than directly.

The only hitch is, of course, you need to know what companies are in the area you are interested in. Plus I don't know if you want to go small or big....I think this suggestion is probably more relevant for bigger towns/cities or companies (more of a chance of getting hired though). But normally you can look through the newspaper (archives) business section or just search google and there are some lists out there of companies in the area.
Reply:Try going to each states website and most of them have one such as State of Texas.org and go to employment. Also I know that Burlington Northern Railroad is hiring all over the country. Go to their website as well. I can't remember if I found it by putting their name in my browser or in Google. Good luck on the job search!!!
Reply:The economy isn't much better here in central New Jersey. That means all the places I'm sending my resume (Philadelphia, New York) are in the crapper too. Granted, I'm looking for ANY entry level job in ANY feild, but unfortunately, even though I don't care what feild I work in, my BA is in Journalism. I know that it's hard to get a job in Journalism, but I have constantly written letters stating that I'm looking for any entry level job in any feild because I just want work experience to build my resume. I don't even get contacted from Temp/Employment agencies! I've called and contacted over 10 of them, but they haven't responded, probably in fear that they can't help. I've been very worried, as I've been looking for over a year now, and I'm buried in college debt. I sit down 3 days a week and send out at least a hundred applications/resumes all over NY, NJ, and PA from careerbuilder, varietycareers, monster, and several other job search engines. Not one business has called me back. I've only had 3 interviews in nearly 2 years. So I know what you mean! I think the internet is making it EXTREMELY difficult to find jobs because people can just apply to several jobs in 3 seconds using the copy and paste method, instead of looking in their local paper, taking time to print out their resume and cover letter on nice paper and physically send it in an envelope. Now businesses get flooded with hundreds of applications from all over the place. It SUCKS. Somethings gotta give. You can try going directly to certain businesses websites, and then searching their own job bank. Try calling any numbers listed on their website. Even that didn't work for me, so I currently have ONE temp/employment agency that was willing to help me. They gave me a ton of tests, and said they'd try to get me a job at a hospital that only pays 12 an hr. I probably sound like I'm complaining to you, but I just wanted you to know, the economy aint much better outside of where you are. It may actually get more competitive! Best of Luck, I really mean that...
Reply:call a recruiter

they are good at what they do

What are some jobs that have a salary of 350,000 dollars or more a year?

I want to be an architect but I'm not sure if they make enough money for me. I got big dreams but I've got the big brains to achieve them, and patience. Some people want the money but don't want to work for it I'm willing to work for it. (Shocking right) So what are jobs that could get that kind of salary. And what degree and how many years of experience do you need.

Doctor of any kind is out I'm too queasy, same with sports player, and entertainment/modeling. I'm average looking, average singer, and I can't dance at all. Maybe acting I could do acting I can fake the heck out of people. ^-^ but I'm not really considering that.

What are some jobs that have a salary of 350,000 dollars or more a year?
Investment consultant. This profession requires math skills. Good for people who love to work with money. You can go for a CFA designation. After ten yrs of experience in the field you can expect that dreamed income of 350K per year.
Reply:Uh, Queen of England. Oh wait, that's taken. Not many careers will EVER lead to that kind of salary, no matter the field you enter. Why not focus on doing the kind of work you're most interested in? And, receiving a reasonable salary, not getting rich! It's great to set goals but your expectations are unrealistic at best.

What type of jobs can you have in a casino at las vegas?

I want to one day become a casino host what do i need to and and what other jobs are there?

What type of jobs can you have in a casino at las vegas?
There are so many jobs in a casino, it's unbelievable. It's an industry that allows you to really move up fast if you are sharp, show the right attitude, and are always willing to learn.

I am in the industry, and know many people who have worked their way up to Director of Operations and General Manager....without having a college education. Generally, you can move up very quickly in this industry.

If you want to be a casino host, you obviously want to deal with people. Sometimes very demanding and crabby ones. Casino hosts are there to cater to every little whim of the casino's top players. Very seldom do casinos hire casino hosts with no casino experience. The best way to move into that area is to apply for a job in the slot club. You can demonstrate your people skills there very well.

Or you start at the bottom like everyone else. You didn't really go after a specialized degree so go after a job in something that you find interesting.

If you could provide a list of jobs that might be interesting or provide a special experience for a 17 year old boy, please post.

Fast food industry hires young men your age.

Grocery stores hire for stocking and carry out.

Department stores hire for stocking, shipping and receiving.

If you want to do your own thing, you could mow lawns, run errands for disabled or elderly folks. Some folks in the country like wood cut and stacked to prepare for colder weather.

Malls will hire young men at theaters, or janitorial.

There are all sorts of jobs available, just check around.

You could also check newspaper listings and submit a resume with monster.com

Does anybody know of any credible jobs that i can do from home that's inexpensive and non-gimmick?

I need a job that I can do from home. When I search in google and stuff I can't really find anything. Does anybody know of any jobs that I can do from home that won't cost anything to start (like own businesses) and are fairly easy, possibly typing things or something? I really need something as soon as possible, and I don't want to get ripped off. Thanks!

Reply:I know a lot about this topic so please forgive the length of this reply. I have a lot of good info for you. I am a mother of two little girls who are actually tugging on my arm as I write this so I will try to be brief. Many people are looking for work from home companies. All the scams definitely create a big problem but also, there is a problem of people misunderstanding the difference between work from home "jobs" and work from home opportunities. There really are not work from home “jobs”. To get that you have to start working for a company in their offices first, then they MAY allow you to take the job home.

Most of the work from home opportunities that are legitimate offers are not an hourly pay type job. They are business opportunities that help you in starting your own business from your home.

What you should do first is to decide if you are simply looking for an hourly rate type job or if you are looking for more of an opportunity for additional income such as what you would make in your own business being your own boss from home. Many say a JOB stands for Just Over Broker and I have found that to be true as well. I never got anywhere working for others.

Small home businesses have some small costs involved, less then $100 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting $300, $500 even some asking for $1000-$5000. It doesn’t cost that much to start and run a home business so you shouldn’t pay it. The real ones will have a small monthly overhead as well. Should be around $50 a month but no more then $75. And everything should be included from your web sites to training and team support to back office accounting and booking. It’s ok to pay this overhead because it’s a business, they cost money. It’s not reasonable to assume you can run a business from home with a website and more for free so do keep that in mind as you search.

If you are coming across places that say free then I would RUN don’t walk the other way! They never are. I tried them many a times and 3 weeks later I had to buy this and 6 weeks later that. After 6 months these “free businesses” had cost me over $800 on average.

I’m a stay at home mom of two little girls as I mentioned, ages 1 and 3. I work about 15-18 hours per week for a National Medical Benefits Company. This is a home business, a nationally known and reputable home business which is what you need to make sure you are looking for. I have been with the company almost a year now and I make over $2000 a month! In your first month, depending on how many hours you can work, I have seen people make anywhere from $300 to over $3000. And your income will increase each month because we get paid residual income as well. If I continue on as I am going at the end of the year I will be making $5000 a month. My friend Becky from South Carolina started 2 years before me and she is now making $95,000 a year with this company.

The best part is they have 401(k), direct deposit, life insurance and a benefits package most of which you get from day one. In addition, there are no products, no hard selling or pushing, no cold calling, no home parties and no telemarketing! That was VERY important to me.

I absolutely love working with them and I can't believe I am making what I am making and in so few hours per week. The neat thing is there are other people on your team that you work with so you are never alone. You have great team support and you get to know the other people on your team pretty well. The support is great but I have made wonderful friends as well. I think that’s important too, especially being at home!

I was a bit apprehensive at first because I know a lot of companies are not legit but this company is the number one National Medical Benefits Company in the US. They are a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Dental Plans and the owner of the company actually sits on the board of The Consumer Health Alliance to which we are also members. Also they were featured in “The New York Times”, “Wall Street Journal” “Time Magazine” and the “American Medical Review”. Even “60 Minutes” with Morley Safer did a big special on this home based business.

Even more then all this is they are accepted at over 100,000 retailers nation wide. These are fortune 500 companies like Sears, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Wal-mart, Publix and more. These companies would never work with a company that was any thing less then reputable. That made me feel very good about working with them knowing they were accepted at these stores that I frequent. Also now of course being with them I get the dental and vision benefits for free and I saved over $150 on my last visit to the dentist! That’s just a beautiful perk! : - )

When I first started I just felt very safe with them, that and my friend was already making so much money with Ameriplan. But at this point I feel a sense of security financially that our family has never had before. That plus LOVING what you do? What could be better?

Check them out! Just type in www.workathomeplus.net in your web browser.

What kind of jobs are out there that has to do w/ animals?

Thanx!!

What kind of jobs are out there that has to do w/ animals?
Theres TONS of jobs with animals.

Vet Tech- 2 year Associates Applied Science Degree. Pretty much a nurse for animals. You do everything in a Vet clinic except surgeries, diagnose, prognoses, and prescribe. If you want to be rich and have it all, go for a Vet degree. If your in it for the animals go for the tech degree.

Vet- 6-8 years of school. Graduate with a Doc. of Vet Med degree. Vet tech but can do the four things techs can't. Can make up to $60 thousand a year

Humane Society-Rescue animals from abuse and neglect, find them good homes. Rehab animals. Many various jobs. Pay varies with location.

Wildlife Ranger/Park Ranger- Help wildlife (buffalo, eagles, beavers, etc.) regain populations and habitats. Many other aspects. Pay varies.

There are many other options. You'll find one for you. Congratulations on making the decision to help animals.
Reply:you could always work at a zoo. but you could go to school to be a veterinary technician ( I am) and you could be an animal cop, start a kennel, or work at any vet office.
Reply:it depends on what kind of animals you want to work with.

there is always a vet, a vet tech (assistant)

animal trainers, raisers, animal control officer, nutritionist, dog judge, breeder, there is alot, i cant name to many with out knowing what you want to work with.

your best bet is to get into and animal science program in college and do like a survey of animals you want to work with, and then pinpoint a career.
Reply:be a dog walker.
Reply:Vet-- large animals, small animals and you can also get a certain digree that is for a spacific animal (horse etc)
Reply:I've thought about going to college for buisness management dog grooming and dog training. I've been thinking about starting up my own buisness. I was thinking of managing a dog boarding/day care facility and having grooming and training there. It's a way to get money and do the things you enjoy the most... (you could also board/day care cats as well or other animals at that matter.)
Reply:I went to college and got a degree in Biology. Then I worked at an aquarium as an aquarist, but it doesn't pay too well. Then I became a vet tech and got certified as a laboratory animal technician. Now I work at a Biotech company and treat all of the animals that we have there.

What kind of jobs can you get with double majors of economics and Industrial Operations Engineering?

i'm a sophomore at the university of michigan and incase i dont get into business school, i'd double major in economics and industrial operations engineering. of course, i'll be aiming for masters in both fields. is it a good alternative to an MBA?

what kind of jobs can you get?

is there a high demand for these types of majors?

what would be the difference between someone with M.S in econ + IOE and someone with an MBA? career-wise.

What kind of jobs can you get with double majors of economics and Industrial Operations Engineering?
If you can get into buisness school, that is your best bet. The economy is on a downside especially in the building industry. It depends on what kind of engineering you are going to do (structural, civil, etc.) I worked in an engineering and geology firm for 4 years but just got laid off due to work coming in. I am actually looking into buisness, just because there is wide variety of jobs related to it. Try to stick with buisness, the demand for engineering is very slow right now.
Reply:Here is what I think might be the issue.

Economics IMO is not the type of degree that is most sought after. Industrial operations engineering isn't in high demand either. Not only that but alot of experts are saying that 4-5 years from now over 90% of all engineering is going to be contracted out. So it means that working for a huge corporation might not be an option.

I would try sprinkling some finance or program management/team management experience or designations as well. MBA is highly sought after, especially if you obtain an MBA is a growing or stable field. Try working with your school and use the alumni to see if there are positions available. Also, try interning somewhere to get your foot in the door.

Good luck

What kind of jobs can you get with a major in Philosophy?

I like the idea of majoring in Philosophy but what jobs can I get with a Philosophy major besides a lawyer? I also would love to minor in psychology or counseling. How would these help my Philosophy major?

What kind of jobs can you get with a major in Philosophy?
You can do anything with a Philosophy major. It doesn't limit you in any way (unless you let it). Do whatever it is you want to do. If you're interested in some field, you'll be good at it, and you'll go far.

Best of luck to you :-).
Reply:Why Study Philosophy?

National studies of college graduate test scores attest to the success of philosophy students. They consistently score better than nearly all other majors on the Graduate Record Exam, GMAT and LSAT.

But the value of an education in philosophy extends beyond the domain of personal and academic skills.

As the global community continues to shrink and corporate America restructures, careers will increasingly demand employees who can think critically, disclose hidden assumptions and values, formulate problems clearly, and discern the impact of ideas. The flexibility provided by a background in philosophy can become a career asset.

The undergraduate program in philosophy is excellent preparation for many other disciplines and professional programs, including teaching, fine arts, natural and social sciences, psychology, and business.

Philosophy graduates are actively working in many of those fields. Some have gone on to graduate or professional schools in law, philosophy, and other areas
Reply:Basically, you can't do anything with a BA in Philosophy. You have to get an advanced degree (Masters or PhD). Then you can teach, go into some sort of ministry, be a counsellor, or other fields that help people.
Reply:It might be tough but I would suggest jobs that had to deal with counseling. You know people are so left brained and condition they don't realize that the universe is in control of everything. Like failed marriages. If you used philosophy to help mend the persons heart it will help them to face "reality". I say go for it! It helped me alot.
Reply:(in homer simpsons voice) Hmmmmmm philosophy

I think the philosophy studeis will help you advance in any OTHER field.

As for Philosophy ONLY, then philsophy teacher. And hopefully write some REALLY good books. But if you go into other fields, some people will be REALLY impressed at you and what you accomplish.

think maybe of, social science, Education, Advertising, business management %26amp; infrastructures , medical, artificial intellegnce, theoretical physics or political science. Also city planning, economics, law.....all need people with good thinking skills, philosophy will help with growing EXCEPTIONAL thinking skills.....there is also, the military and psych ops.
Reply:lol anything that anyone else can do with any other BA. its just a piece of paper to show that you worked ur *** off for four years. no one cares what you majored in.
Reply:I also didn't want to be a lawyer. So naturally, I'm taking the bar in July.

Philosophy is useful in pretty much any field. It teaches you how to think.

However, as far as direct career path, the major isn't useful on its own unless you want to become a philosophy professor. It's popular as a double major, you can learn to think and learn something more practical too. Also, philosophy can apply to any number of other areas. Philosophy of mind, ethics, and free will are all interesting from a psychology/counseling prospective and will help you with that career.
Reply:lol, philosophy teacher. that's about it
Reply:Fast food. You can't be a lawyer with a major in philosophy, by the way. You have to go to law school to be a lawyer.
Reply:Let's see. If 'a' = 'b', and 'b' = 'c', then 'a' = 'c''. That means that if philosphy = no job, and psychology = no job, then go to law school to pay for 2 useless degrees. Seriously, do you really want to work and contribute something to society, or do just want to go to school forever? Not to be mean, but liberal arts degrees usually don't lead to anything real meaningful (meaning money in your pocket), unless you get your PHD, and there's certainly nothing wrong with being a prof.
Reply:Philosophy teach you how to think.

Psychology teach you how others think.

You need both for effective counseling.

What sort of jobs require working in a cubicle?

I was wondering where I might find this sort of job as I've always fancied a cube, odd as that may sound. If you've worked in a cube before, what job were you doing? Was the atmosphere relaxed?

Any info you have would be awesome, especially job duties for the jobs y'all come up with.

What sort of jobs require working in a cubicle?
Any call center job should provide you a cubicle - albeit probably a small one. If you are looking for a job with larger cubicles then I would look for employment with companies that need data entry, checks and balances, record keeping, loan processing or any job requiring handling of sensitive information and minimal privacy. The company I work for http://www.cology.com provides large cubicles for all their employees. Middle management get cubicle areas and the big wigs get their own office.
Reply:call centres - very boring.
Reply:Wake up! Why would you want to work like that? I think that's where I'm heading and I kind of feel like commiting suicide if I have to do that the rest of my life.
Reply:Telemarketer, computer programmer, commodities broker. Anything where your job is pretty much on the phone or computer all day.
Reply:go watch office space, and then see if you still want to work in s cubicle
Reply:Go for any telemarketing, telesales, customer service or call centre job and you're made!

Enjoy!

What kind of jobs are out there for people who study psychology?

How many years of schooling and what jobs are there for people who were to major/ get a mastors/ phd in psychology and how much do they pay?

What kind of jobs are out there for people who study psychology?
I noticed that no one mentioned anything involving consumer psychology, which was my focus in college. I paired my psychology major with a business minor. This opened up jobs in consumer research and areas of marketing and development. You would be amazed at some of the doors a psychology degree can open. There are also jobs in the area of Human resources and social work that require psychology degrees. If you want to do consumer research you are going to want a master's degree. Dr. Blake at Cleveland State University in Ohio is doing global research on internet shopping behavior. If this interests you the program is worth checking out. Be forewarned that this program only accepts about 6 people a year into the program.

Most schools have school psychologists on their payroll....you could start there asking. It also varies what part of the country you live in.....as all jobs and salaries do. As far as years of schooling, you need a PhD....a doctorate....means minimum of getting a bachelors first (4 years), then a masters (2 years), then the doctorate, which varies in how long....average of 2 to 3 years.....so total of about 9 years after high school of education.

What kind of jobs do are there for people who major in philosophy?
Generally speaking, philosophy majors could go into ANY field they want, for philosophy has simply taught them how to think and how to think logically - a necessary trait in any industry or profession.

As a generalization, it really doesn't matter what your undergraduate degree was in, you can usually enter any field. It's your graduate degree that is what matters for your future line of work. I say pick a BA that you enjoy. I saw too many business majors struggling through economics because they thought that was what was expected of them.

That said, philosophy majors are probably prevalent in the teaching field, as well as the legal profession.

What kind of jobs are offered to help find missing children?

I've recently been thinking about changing my major in college to criminal justice. I really want to help people, and I was strongly considering working in the field of missing children. Does anyone know the type of jobs that help find children who are missing?

What kind of jobs are offered to help find missing children?
There are a few options for that. Become a police officer in a larger city that would have a division for missing persons, become a private investigator and specialize in it, or check out the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's website to see if they are hiring.

I received my Bachelor's degree in CJ for the same reason. I've found in a small area though as far as police departments go, that degree really doesn't do anything for you. It all depends what you plan to do with it. Some larger PD's will pay you a bit more for having it.

Good luck to you!
Reply:You could become an Investigator.

But also keep in mind that 95% of missing children are missing by choice. They don't want to be found.

The left over percentage are most likely dead due to criminal intervention etc.

Solving the unsolved crimes wont bring them back.

The kids that choose to go missing actually do have a choice.

Many would never want to go back due to abuse in their home life. How do you solve that? Take away the abuse you take away the homelife in many cases. So they still have no home. Its a vicious circle that really has no cure.

Abuse is a massive problem worldwide.
Reply:Well.

I believe there is the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Good luck in your career.
Reply:There are various non-profits in that space. I notice my local walmart (and probably all of them) has a bulletin board by the door listing missing children. You can go there and see what that non-profit is, and you could google it and others to find out if they hire folks like you.

I suppose you could start your own non-profit or for-profit company. Most missing kids are missing due to custodial disputes as I understand it, and it seems to me there is room for some new and innovative services in that space.
Reply:Check the library, check the internet and check with a career counselor at your college.

I don't know of any direct job involved in finding missing children except for police and other law-enforcement agencies. A career in child protective services would come close. Many who majored in crim justice have gone into CPS. Advancement in that career usually involves getting an MSW.

Good luck.
Reply:The FBI is often called in on missing children's cases, so you might look for a career with them.

Conversely, you could train rescue dogs - both tracking dogs or cadaver dogs, and do rescue work on a part time or volunteer basis.

What kind of jobs are available to someone who has an associates in accounting?

Is an associates degree going to make decent jobs available?

What kind of jobs are available to someone who has an associates in accounting?
Bookkeepers and clerks, until you get experience or further education.

And Gene was totally off. You cannot become a CPA (need more credits than a bachelors) nor an accountant dealing with general ledger with an associates.

An associates is your foot in the door, then continue your education and increase your experience.
Reply:You would be a good candidate for an accounting clerk job.

Good luck.
Reply:You can get a typical accounting job - with journal entries, month-end close, book keeping, etc. Or you can get a CPA license and get a better job with better pay.
Reply:Not much. Get a bachelor's degree.

What kind of jobs and college major that work with kids?

I will be going to college next year. I want to know what kind of jobs and college major that work with kids.

What kind of jobs and college major that work with kids?
There are many to choose from. Here's a list of jobs:

Teaching and Teacher's Aide

(music teacher; elementary, middle; coach/PE)

Speech Pathologist

Counselor

Social Worker (Children, Youth %26amp; Families)

Librarian

Nurse

Physician's Assistant

Dietician/Nutritionist

Physical Therapist

Art Therapist

Most of these professional positions require a masters degree. Teaching is the most flexible, with summers off, you can take classes and earn your masters while working. Nursing is also somewhat flexible since school nurses work the same hours as teachers.

Best wishes.
Reply:Try Early Child Development or Child Psychology for college majors.

As for jobs, there are teachers: preschool, primary, secondary, high school; youth counselors, social workers; marriage, family, and child counselors; nannies.

Just to name a few. Probably lots more but I can't think of 'em just now.
Reply:well, i think the primarily needed of each and everyone youth or kids was education! so i advise you to get education to be a future teacher someday.

Another tax question. I had two jobs last year, both in different states. Do I need more than a 1080 EZ?

I know the form I will use is 1080 EZ, but does the fact that I had 2 jobs in seperate states change anything? Also, the taxes I paid at 1 job were only like 10 bucks, do I even need to file that?

Another tax question. I had two jobs last year, both in different states. Do I need more than a 1080 EZ?
No matter what state you worked in, you report your income on one Federal Return. There is no such thing as a 1080ez form. You must have meant 1040ez. If you got a W-2 from your employer, you should report it because they have that information already. You do not have to file at all if you are single and didn't make more than $8,750, but if you made $3,000 or more, you should file so you will get your stimulus payment. See more info at www.irs.gov

You will need to get a State tax return to fill out for the two separate states you worked in.

What are some jobs a thirteen year old can do?

Please don't post babysit, mow lawns, poop picker, pet/plant sit, pick up mail or any of the commoon jobs. I heard from this one lady that people will pay kids to read books and review them so that could be interesting, and i also heard about this thing were a company gives you stuff to pass out to your friends and they pay you! It would be great if you could check on these two things and other ideas are welcomed too. I live in VA, around Fairfax.

What are some jobs a thirteen year old can do?
Here is a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:

Good luck!

What kind of jobs would I be able to get with a Bachelors degree in Information Techonology?

Would I be able to get any jobs in the Entertainment/Film industry, like video production/editing, or is that a totally different field?

If it's not IT, then what major should I pursur if I want to get into video production/editing/ 3D animation-type things?

What kind of jobs would I be able to get with a Bachelors degree in Information Techonology?
No, IT is a functional unit in a business entity. They are in charge of the technology devices as well as issues regarding the use of technology in the organization.

Video production is usually offered as the name states, or creative media, something like that. Could be within a theatre department or art department depending on the school.

Is there any jobs for disabled people without worried being discriminated or fired ?

I am just wondering, because i have tried getting a job around my small town and i can't even get past an interview! They would say that they will call ya, but how can you believe that? Oh i have tried BVR too. (Bureau of Vocational Rehabitation) and i had to go thru many meetings just to get a job and that didn't work for me either because first you would go to meetings for 3 or 4 months and get some sort of a job coach, pick about 3 different jobs to try out, and try em for 2 weeks, and if you like em, you can try to apply. None of them worked out. I ended up at some workshop and working for .35 cents an hour! Is there anything?

Is there any jobs for disabled people without worried being discriminated or fired ?
You did not specify your age or location. I am wondering where you live that allows you to earn .35 cents an hour! Also, let me know what your disability is, perhaps I can help.
Reply:I hope you now have a job. My boyfriend is sitting at home with a Master's Degree and a disability and they give him the same problems. Report It

Reply:In my country, the blind work in a massage place. body and foot massage.
Reply:First of all, it is totally illegal under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) to be discriminated against simply because you're disabled.

This means, an employer cannot just refuse to hire you or fire you simply because of your disability. Employers are legally required to make "reasonable accomodation," but that request has to come from the employee.

If you're blind and need extra time to get around the office, that's perfectly "reasonable." But if an employer had to spend $100,000 to upgrade something just for you, that might not be considered "reasonable."

If a disabled person is equally qualified as another non-disabled applicant, then that person has to be given the same level consideration.

If you feel you are actually being discriminated against, which wouldn't suprise me in a small town, then I would suggest contacting the EEOC. They take sexual harassment and discrimination compliants very seriously!

And if you're collecting disability, I would contact the source of it and say you feel you may be the victim of discrimination.

It's unfortunate that people have prejudices against the disabled and use it as a way to keep them out. Illegal to do so, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Might take longer, but you'll gain employment.

I've had plenty of disabled students who have run into situations like this. Not all employers discriminate!
Reply:usa.. supposed to be the land of the free.. but they hide away their disabled people or don't protect them against some firms who pay 35 cents an hour........ heaven protect us from free society.. good luck i hope you win the american lottery.. and have a fantastic life.. xx hugs keep your chin up eh?

I am so sorry to hear this. It really angers me that people do degrade other people because of a disibility which I highly believe is wrong and its something Im against. I can not express how I feel and Im so sorry that thats happened. As for jobs, im not sure. You said you were in a small town so I guess it does limit the oppertunities a little but the best I can say is dont give up! I really dont think people with disibilities should be treated any less and I really hope everything goes well!

The Best of luck.

-Much love

What kind of jobs can someone get with a marketing degree?

My bf is either going to get a marketing or business administration degree ... what kind of jobs will he be qualified for?

What kind of jobs can someone get with a marketing degree?
Truthfully, unless you're entering a highly specified profession, most employers just look to see if you have a degree, not really at what field it is in.

Marketing degrees are widely accepted by employers, as the education you have received is applicable to many different areas of business. If you want to stick with your specific arena, I'd say it'll be in sales or marketing (obviously).
Reply:a marketing degree is a business administration degree. he could do marketing jobs... sales.... advertising...
