What kind of jobs can someone get with a degree in sociology?

I plan on taking some time off between my BA and postgraduate work in order to determine an area of concentration. What jobs will I be able to get with a BA?

What types of international careers are available to sociology graduates?

What kind of jobs can someone get with a degree in sociology?
When I went to college I wanted to be a probation officer, but when I got out of school I started out being a preschool teacher and now I am a legal advocate for a domestic violence shelter. There are many options. You should do whatever interests you, whatever you think you would like to do. No job is worth any amount of money if you don't enjoy the work.
Reply:Positives - You can do almost anything.

Negatives - You cannot do go into the "big professions"; Law, Medicine, etc...

I have been a teacher, bartender, school administrator, professional photogrpher, conflict resolution/mediation trainer, and university administrator and yes I have a BA in Sociology. So much for saving the world!
Reply:Do something in Retail for a department store.... like be a buyer, or a merchandiser or even a manager maybe even sales associate....Or be a Counselor maybe at a school or institution....
Reply:I'm sure this came up a week or so ago. Prison officers, allied health workers (social planning) government departments, research organisations. Lots of places. You go, girl!!
Reply:I'm in the exact same situation. I was thinking about teaching children (of course I'd have to take the exam to qualify) or going into corporate Human Resources work. That's the great thing about our major- we can find ways to apply it almost anywhere!
