What are non civil service law enforcement jobs? What would they be listed and where?

Does Ca have such jobs and are they in each county in the state? I've never heard of such a thing before. Also how would a person get paid?

Do you mean CA State Jobs. Well all police departments have Non-Sworn positions. These would be Secretary jobs, record techs, dispatchers, vehicle maintenance to name a few. Look on your state run web sights or State Patrol/Trooper web sight there should be a link to human resources. Then find what your looking for, good luck.

Reply:You can easily find out by calling the state DOP or looking on their site.

Here in NJ, we have both civil service (hired through the state) and non civil service (hired from the department directly).

I am sure they do because I think you can put yourself through the academy for a feww on your own. Like I said, department of personnel for the state would answer this question fairly easily. Just call tomorrow.
