Reply:Honestly, very few. However, If you're very good at something in particular you may have the luxury of working at your own pace because the demand for your skill will not hasten to the next available average Joe if your constituents run short of patience.





Working an assembly line... you had better keep up


Flipping burgers... you must keep up





In other words, the desired product of those efforts require a trainable skill that your customers or constituents have no interest whatsoever how the item is prepared, constructed or produced as long as they get it when they want it. Sadly, the product is worth far more than the effort or skill required to produce it.





DaVinci worked at his own pace and few care. Interestingly in that case, the scarcity of his work as a result of working at his own pace makes his work more valuable.





Stephen King can take as long as he wants to write his next book and there's still a 99% chance someone will want to make a movie from it ... just like every previous book he has written.





You, in your own way can find a way to do it. These famous people are only clear examples and are not meant to deter you.





That sort of job is more common than you think, but those opportunities rank as a scarce few when compared to typical jobs. If you read outside of the lines a bit, perhaps you have a skill already or a capability that can be developed that can allow you to work in this way. It is possible. I have done it and continue to do so. This experience is far more rewarding than any of the dozens of typical jobs that I have had.





It's not necessarily what you do that's valuable... it's what you know how to do. Therein lies the job or occupation that will patiently permit you to work at your own pace.
