Should I change jobs or have a baby to get the maternity cover?

I would really like to have my first child soon, but I am getting fed up with my job. I don't hate it but I can't envisage being there forever and my boss is really mean. My dilemma is: do I try for a child and get the maternity cover from this job (I have been there for over 2 years and I would get 52 weeks), or change jobs and delay becoming a parent? I am 29 years old and I don't want to be an old mum! Any advice would be great.

If you're ready for a baby then try for one. Don't do it just to get extra time off. If it's something you've already been planning for and getting excited about then there's nothing wrong with it. You can always look for a new job once you come back from maternity leave.
Reply:If you can get 52 weeks. I would stay where you are at. That is too good to pass up. good luck
Reply:Where do you work to get that many weeks!! Stay there and have the baby on their leave.

I got 12 weeks all unpaid and had worked their 4 yrs, you must be outside the US.
Reply:I would have the baby, no question. If you want a child now, go for it.
Reply:You should stay, thats alot of maternity cover and if you really want a child now, you should have it now.
