Reply:Biotechnology is a relatively new industry. It includes work in research and industry, your choice. From what I have read, more money can be made in private research or industrial companies than in academic institutions. The salary really depends on what you do. With a PhD, you can expect higher range 5 digit figures. With a BS degree, right out of college, in Illinois, at an academic institution, I'm looking at about $35,000 a year.

I will be majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry and Secondary Education(my back-up job). You need a strong background in biochemistry and microbiology.

A lot of biotech has to do with, but is not limited to, genetics, cells, and other small technologies. It can be agricultural, medical, economic, industrial. It has applications in many things. It is used in cheese-making, cosmetics, medicines, textiles, etc. It is obvious that there is plenty of opportunity here.

Basic job titles are lab assistant, lab technician, researcher, etc. all the way up to Scientist. Scientists have a PhD in their concentration and are in charge of the entire research team.

This would be a great question if it were grammatically correct. Keep that in mind in the future, and you can get more and better answers.
