Does having alot of jobs affect me getting hired for a police department?

Ive had a job since i was sixteen and all through college i also had different jobs. Does it look like i am an irresponsible person to the police department if i have had a lot of jobs. And what are my chances of me getting hired if i have had al ot of jobs?

They do look for people who can hold a job but it won't necessarily disqualify you. They do an excessive background check anyway and will probably look into why you left and/or if you got fired, or if you quit. I wouldn't stress about it.
Reply:You do not state your age now. However, having been gainfully employed since 16 does evidence a sense of responsibility. The number of jobs does not mean as much as why you left the jobs. Better opportunity, better pay, better hours, better location, etc., are all good reasons. However, being fired repeatedly is not good.

Be careful what you write on your resume for leaving jobs. I've seen some beauts as a former Chief. Alarm bells go off when you read reasons for leaving last job, like: "Didn't like boss"; Lousy hours"; "Made me work in the rain"; and my personal favorite, "ugly co-workers".

Comments like those do not get you hired.
Reply:i hate seeing people giving out bad information.the poster who said a unstable work history is not a problem does not know what they are talking about.the department has to be able to count on someone coming to work.they will have to rely on him being there for a while.if he has a unstable work history it will eliminate him.----retired texas deputy sheriff----
